Bacalar

View Mexico (Mainland II) on divatmotoros's travel map.

Bacalar - we were prepared! Purchased a sunbrella, shoes for swimming and sunblocker. The weather had different plans so it is cool and cloudy. Still looks amazing, unreal blue lagoon of an underground river breaking to the surface.

The accomodation was just two blocks from the lake and it had a cat, a pool and some nicely lit miniature house (probably for the cat or for elfs).

We went for a walk on the boardwalk which is 1km long and square shaped, largely above the azure blue water. The sign at the entrace said do not feed or touch the crocodiles but we have not seen any, quite disapponting for the kids. Echo was not even allowed on the boardwalk but I guess he was happy not to meet crocodiles.

After dark we walked to the fort where we found a nice park and playground, so the evening blast of the kids was channeled into slides and swings.

Although the weather was not kind to us, Bacalar was still much better than Tulum. We enjoyed the murals too and many bars, restaurants were preparing for the main season coming in a few days.
