Ciudad del Carmen

View Mexico (Mainland II) on divatmotoros's travel map.

After the not so glamourous Coatzacoalcos we headed to Ciudad del Carmen and we liked this town much better.

Already the route to here was more fun. We have passed many runners and small groups of cyclists who are on a pilgrimage related to the Virgin of Guadalupe, one of the main symbols of Mexico. The 12th of December (and already 46 days leading to this date) is almost a bigger celebration than Christmas!

We crossed Villahermosa and then we stopped at Atasta next to a beautiful lake.

After we continued to our last section for the day we bumped into a Sunday parade of horses!

Although it was dark after we settled in the next two nights we went to the Malecon and enjoyed a nice walk. Lots of local families rollerskated and chatted on the well lit street next to the pitch dark seaside.

Two officers pulled over a huge truck and they made a stylish exit from the mini-police car using the Lambo-styled doors.

The next day we went to the beach relatively early and about ten minutes after we arrived it started raining.

We rushed to the car and drove home. We are facing a strange issue with the car, the water condensed in the AC is soaking the passenger side carpets. We tried to fix it with some success. The nearest workshop cleaned the drains but also warned that we migth need to remove the full dashboard to access the pipe which needs to be replaced. Will see if tomorrow the issue continues after the cleaning or not.
